We loved everything about this place. The location was perfect, in the hills with exceptional views but only a 10-15 minute tuk tuk ride from Kandy city. The food was exceptional, with breakfast served outside in the garden and dinner inside the old manor. The service is like no other. The best I have ever experienced. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very spacious with all the amenities. We loved spending time in the infinity pool with the most magnificent views over the hills including the most beautiful gardens and birds. However, what made this place so special were the staff. Everyone (especially Chula) were so warm, welcoming and had the biggest genuine smiles on their faces. Nothing was too much for them, including arranging drivers, day tours and delivering coconuts after us spotting locals climbing coconut trees. Chamilla the driver took us on an amazing tour which included the botanical gardens, gem factory, dance show and to a dosa place in the city (Balaji Dosai - highly recommend). We had the best time and couldn’t recommend this place enough.

The place is absolutely gorgeous - great mix of historical vintage and modern. The location is up in the mountains - we called up the manager and he guided us well. The manager, Mr Raj, himself was very responsive to all our queries from day one. They really go out of your way to make you feel special - whether it is by providing you food in the comfort of your room, or giving you signature cocktails. Mr Raj also helped us out with wonderful train tickets from Nuwara Eliya to Ella. The food is really good - enjoyed everything they prepared, especially the breakfast which is served to you on the lawns and is beautiful. Bathrooms are large - so beautiful and comfortable. Internet is fast. Water pressure in the bathrooms is great and there is hot water. Air-conditioning works great.

Mountbatten Bungalow is a beautifully preserved colonial-era retreat, where the historic ambience has been impeccably maintained, offering a journey back in time while enjoying modern comforts. Nestled on a picturesque hill, the bungalow provides stunning views and a peaceful retreat. Waking up to the melodious sounds of birds was a serene and enchanting experience. The adjoining monastery's chanting added a tranquil and almost ethereal quality to my stay. The in-house restaurant was nothing short of amazing, providing a delightful culinary experience. A particular shout out to Sagar, whose attentive and warm hospitality made my stay even more memorable. His dedication to ensuring my comfort truly set this stay apart.

Fabulous little piece of history we stayed in an enormous room Rose. Pristine gardens, infinity pool, that was very cold, but with views to die for... The staff were lovely and very attentive. Breakfast was great we only had dinner once and it was also nice. The bungalows are up in the mountains it's a 20 mins tuk tuk drive down to Kandy. So it's good to plan day trips down and stay the whole day if you don't want to be travelling up and down. Beautiful hotel highly recommended if you don't mind paying a little extra.

The main building with the colonial style takes you to another era. We liked how it was untouched through the years. We stayed at the wooden bungalow under the trees and it was very spacious and comfortable. Nice bathtube with view to nature. The gardens and the pool were beautiful, we didnt swim because it was always windy and cold at this hill, despite that in the rest of the country the weather was hot. But we liked this chilly weather on the hill.
